An evening with…

Some great news to share. Crime Book Club (link above) has invited me to take part in an online author chat session at the end of July. Currently the group has over 1500 members. I’m very excited. It’s a terrific opportunity to raise awareness regarding my writing.

The group is free to join. (You need to join it, and then be approved, to have access to all the features. Then go to ‘Upcoming Group Events’ and ‘See All’ and there I am.)

As well as crime readers sharing and discussing their views on what they’re reading they also hold those regular author chats. Nıkki Owen and best-selling Rachel Abbott coming up soon. And then I’m in the firing line. Gulp!

It has been suggested that I might like to run a quiz about my books or do a give-away or something fun. I’ve decided that I’m going to do a quiz. The prize will be a candlelit dinner for two at a lovely restaurant I’ve discovered in the Caribbean. (See T&Cs below.)

T&Cs

The lucky winner must pay for everything including meals, unlimited champagne, accommodation in a five star hotel for me and my mum (separate rooms. Make that separate hotels. She will also probably want to join the lucky winner and me for dinner.) Oh, and of course first class return travel to Istanbul for two.

Excited? I know I am.

  1. Morning Oliver,
Glad to hear your year of being a full-time author has started off with a bang: let it continue. Would inform you, though, I will not be partaking in your quiz as I cold possibly win it, so will pass on that one:-)
Otherwise, trust the move goes well and you can find your own little writing spot in your new accommodation. I like to be tucked away somewhere where there is no passing people traffic.
    Good luck and best wishes,
    Pat.

    • Hi Pat
Sorry that you won’t be entering. But I do understand 😉
Something else I’m going to insist on is a room of my own. Actually, the wife already suggested that. She said she’d pay for a bed and a desk and a chair and a lock too. She’s so good to me sometimes.
      Best wishes.
      Oliver

  2. When I was a lot younger, I had a phone call to say that I had won a holiday, even though I didn’t remember entering a competition. All I had to do to claim my prize was to attend a hard sell, time share seminar, at a Gatwick airport hotel. It was a con and I am now super cautious.
I have carefully read your terms and conditions and everything looks well above board with no strings attached. Count me in.

    • Hi Russell
Glad to know that you see nothing for a watchdog to take issue with regarding my T&Cs. All systems go.
Now, about that time share. I have access to a lovely little flat in northern Iraq. Excellent rates, although the neighbours can be a bit noisy.
      Let me know.
      Best wishes.

  3. Like the idea of the Crime Book Club, but I don’t think I’ll bother with the comp. Too hot in the Caribean for me. Not bothered about the flat in Iraq either.
